I'm going to Graceland, Graceland, Graceland Tennessee

We sadly say goodbye to Nashville about 9 am and head to Memphis, we drove for about three hours listening to Paul Simon's Fantastic Graceland album and Johnny Cash, it was a fun drive. We got to Memphis about 12:30 and decided to go to Graceland before checking into our hotel. I don't mean to be a whiner, I knowmI am incredibly lucky to be able to take this great vacation ...but folks it is about 100 degrees and very very humid, almost unbearable. When we are inside or driving it is all good, but outside for any period of time and it gets a little tough. We get to Graceland and take the tour, the basic tour. We didn't desire to see the cars or the Lisa Marie Plane.the tour of the house and surrounding buildings. The tour only includes the downstairs public areas, the upstairs bedrooms are off limits. First off the house which they call a mansion is not that big, but it is on 14 acres. Elvis paid about 100,000 for it. The furnishings were pretty gaudy, the jungle room with the furry furnishings were pretty, well, not what I would have gone with. But then again Elvis was Intitled to do whatever he wanted as I am I. There was a trophy room with all his gold records, which was cool. The pool was smaller than any of my friend's pool, in was really surprised. The costumes were nicely displayed and they had some replicas for sale for about $2000. Pricillas's wedding dress and vail were on exhibit as well. Imthought it was ugly but in their wedding pictures she looks great. Throughout the tour there was video of Elvis and we also had at the narrated headphones which I always like. The tour ended with the graves of Elvis, his parents, and grandmother. Kinda sad. When the tour was over we went through the 5 gift shops I bought three postcards and Keith got a tank top. We got to our hotel, a Westin and pretty nice. The location is right where Beale street is, that's where the music is too. The mighty Mississippi is within blocks as well. So here we are in Memphis. I'll keep you posted. Love you Mom. Peace out.
